Draw the main head shape
The first step in how to draw a face is making a big, round oval on your paper. It should look like an egg pointing down towards the bottom. This large shape gives you plenty of room for all the wonderful features later.
Tip: Draw nice and light so you can erase later.

Add the ears
On the left side of the oval, draw a small C-shape. On the right side, draw a backward C-shape. Make sure they line up in the middle of your large shape to keep things looking even and balanced.
Tip: Ears usually sit right across from the nose.

Draw the eyes
Inside your big oval, draw two medium circles. Place them right between your two ears. Leave a nice gap between the circles so the eyes do not touch each other in the center. These will be the base for your bright, happy eyes.
Tip: Drawing circles can be tricky, just do your best!

Add pupils and details
Draw a smaller circle inside each eye and color it dark to make the pupils. You can leave a tiny white dot in each pupil for a bright sparkle. Add three short little lines above each eye for lashes to make everything look extra cute.

Make the nose
Right below the eyes in the very middle, draw a tiny curve. It looks just like a tiny letter U or a soft little bump. Keep it small and simple for a cute, happy look. You do not need a lot of lines at all.

Draw a happy smile
Below the tiny nose, draw a big, wide curve that sweeps upward. This gives your drawing a huge, happy smile! You can add small curved lines at the ends of the smile for extra lovely detail.

Create the hair
Start at the top of the oval and draw swooping lines coming down over the forehead. You can make the lines bumpy, wavy, or spiky! Give your drawing a full head of neat, stylish hair.

Add eyebrows and a neck
Draw two thick, curved lines right above the eyes to make neat eyebrows. Then, go to the very bottom of the oval and draw two straight lines pointing down. This creates a strong neck at the base.

Now for the most fun part of all! Grab your favorite markers or crayons and add simple, flat color. Choose a fun bright shade for the hair and skin to complete your beautiful work of art.
